ESTABLISHED IN CHIRIQUÍ
Magma Coffee Plantations began with a journey that started far from the mountains of Panama.
Founder Dinesh Kumar grew up in a small farming village in India where agriculture was the family’s way of life. As the son of a farmer, he developed a deep respect for the land, nature, and the patience required to cultivate something meaningful from the soil.
After completing his education as an engineer in India, he began his career working at a sugarcane factory. In 1993, seeking new opportunities and adventure, he moved to the United States where his professional path evolved in a completely different direction. Despite his success in business, his connection to farming and nature never faded.
Inspired by the memory of his late father, who loved farming, and encouraged by his daughter, he eventually returned to his agricultural roots.
That journey led him to the mountains of Chiriquí, Panama.
In 2020, he purchased his first piece of land alongside the beautiful Rio Breque in the Cordillera region. At the time, it was untouched land, but he envisioned developing it into a farm capable of producing exceptional specialty coffee.
In 2021, the first Geisha coffee trees were planted, marking the beginning of Magma Coffee Plantations.
Today, Magma Coffee is dedicated to producing exceptional coffee while respecting nature and supporting the people who make it possible.
Our Terroir – The Highlands of Chiriquí
Magma Coffee Plantations is located in the Cordillera region of Chiriquí, one of the most celebrated coffee-growing regions in the world.
The farm benefits from:
• Volcanic soil rich in minerals
• High elevations ideal for specialty coffee
• Cool mountain temperatures and misty mornings
• Clean mountain water from nearby rivers
These natural conditions allow coffee cherries to mature slowly, producing complex flavors and floral aromas that define high-quality Geisha coffee
Our Vision for the Future
At Magma Coffee Plantations, the journey is just beginning.
In addition to our Cordillera farm at 1,600+ meters, we are developing a new high-elevation farm in Las Nubes, Cerro Punta, reaching up to 2,200 meters above sea level near the beautiful Rio Chiriquí.
These extraordinary elevations allow coffee cherries to mature slowly, producing coffees with remarkable complexity and elegance.
Our vision is to continue cultivating exceptional Panamanian Geisha coffee while protecting the natural environment and supporting the people who make the harvest possible.
From a small farming village in India to the volcanic mountains of Panama, Magma Coffee Plantations represents a journey of heritage, perseverance, and a lifelong love for the land.
From Our Founder -
For me, Magma Coffee Plantations is more than a farm — it is a personal journey that connects my past, my family, and my passion for the land.
Growing up in India, farming was part of our everyday life. My father loved the land, and although my career eventually took me to the United States, that connection never disappeared.
When I first saw the mountains of Chiriquí in Panama, I knew this was a place where extraordinary coffee could be grown.
Planting the first Geisha trees in 2021 was the beginning of a dream that continues to grow today.
Every harvest represents patience, dedication, and the work of many people who share the same goal — producing coffee that reflects the beauty of Panama’s highlands.
